Machame Route 7 Days Kilimanjaro Trekking
Day 1: Machame Gate (1490m) to Machame Camp (2980m), taking 5 to 6 hours of trekking through mountain forest.
Day 2: Machame Camp (2980m) to Shira Cave Camp (3840m), 4 to 5 hours of trekking passing along mountain forest to moorland zone vegetation.
Day 3: Shira Cave Camp (3840m) to Lava Tower (4600m) then Barranco camp (3950m), taking 5 to 7 hours of trekking crossing alpine desert up to Lava tower then down to moorland zone at Barranco camp. This day is suitable for acclimatization.
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3950m) to Karanga Camp (4200m), taking 4 t0 5 hours of trekking across Baranco wall to reach Karanga camp nestled within alpine desert zone.
Day 5: Karanga Camp (4200m) to Barafu Camp (4673m) with 3 to 4 hours of trekking across alpine desert. From Barafu Camp you can explore Mawenzi the second peak of Kilimanjaro. At Barafu relax enough before midnight summit to Uhuru peak.
Day 6: Barafu camp (4600m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) then descend to Mweka Camp (3100m), At midnight begin trekking for 6 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru peak then after descend down to Mweka Camp.
Day 7: Mweka camp (3100m) to Mweka Gate (1650m), taking 3 to 5 hours descending from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. Then transfer to Arusha or Moshi.
