The Wildebeest Migration

The Wildebeest migration Tanzania is one of the wonders of natural world, as the great herds of wildebeest and zebra move between Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem. With 2 million wildebeest and zebra accompanied by gazelles migrate in a regular pattern from Southern Serengeti to Masai mara just looking for fresh pasture and water.

From December to March the wildebeest found to southern plains of Serengeti and Ndutu plains close to Ngorongo Conservation Area. February is the special calving season, is the time to experience great herds of wildebeest and zebra in the southern plains with new born. During the long rains of April and May the herds begin to disperse heading to central and western part of Serengeti.

From July to October wildebeest approach northern Serengeti ready to begin crossing Mara River to enter Masai Mara Kenya. This time you can witness thousands of wildebeest crossing rivers with nile crocodiles. From November the wildebeest begin to move down from Masai Mara to southern plains of Serengeti in Tanzania.
