The Great Migration

Serengeti National park is home to thousands of migrating wildebeest which attracts nature lovers, filmmakers and photographers from around the globe. The wildebeest migration is one of Africa's most dazzling cycles of life. Every year the wildebeest cross the Mara river in search for greener pastures. This epic journy from north to south spans almost 3000 kilometers. The herds move rhythmically in a clockwise direction as they spread across the Serengeti plains. 

The Itinerary — What You Can Expect

Every itinerary is tailor-made to the needs and wants of our clients. Here is an example of a 15 day tour including, the safari, Mt. Kilimanjaro trekking and a trip to Zanzibar.

Day 1 - A warm welcome to Tanzania

  • A member of the Bellr Safaris team will receive you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After Visa and baggage collection you will be transferred to Arusha City- safari capital of Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at Gran Melia Arusha.

Day 2 - Tarangire National Park

  • After breakfast drive 2 hours on a tarmac road to Tarangire Natioanal Park which is also known as the garden of Elephants. Enter Tarangire and enjoy full day drive with amazing landscapes dotted with the famous Baobab trees and large concentration of mammals. Enjoy a lunch box picnic overlooking the Tarangire river. In the late afternoon you will drive to your luxury lodge in the Manyara ecosystem with a view of the rift valley. Dinner and overnight at Maramboi Luxury Tented Lodge.

Day 3 - Lake Manyara National Park

  • After breakfast, drive towards the rift valley and pass the village of Mto wa mbu. You will pass the region of fertile soils and rich farms with amazing greenery. The region of Mto wa mbu is well known for culture tourism.Enter Lake Manyara National park which shares its park boundary with Mto wa mbu village.Enjoy full day game drive. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

Day 4- Serengeti National Park

  • After breakfast head towards Serengeti National park. You will transit through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.You will stop briefly at the crater viewpoint. Enter Serengeti National park and enjoy a game drive through the Ndutu plains in central Serengeti. In the month of February you will witness wildebeest migrating in their thousands in the Ndutu plains . It is during this time they give birth upto 8000 calves a day at their peak. Overnight at Kubu Kubu luxury tented lodge.

Day 5-Serengeti National Park

  • After breakfast enjoy full day game drive, visit the hippo pools, follow the migration and look for large prides of lions. Explore the Serengeti plains and visitor centre to learn about the great Serengeti ecosystem.Your driver- guide will explain to you various animal behaviors as you come across them. Expect to see leopards , cheetahs, gazelles , vultures, hyenas, buffalo , zebra and many wild animals in the Serengeti plains. Dinner and overnight at Kubu Kubu Luxury tented Lodge.

Day 6- Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

  • After breakfast,head towards the Ngorongoro conservation area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and spend the day inside the crater floor.Inside this amazing crater you will witness both prey and predator sharing this region of a collapsed caldera. Also inside the crater you will get to see the Rhino which is endangered, shy and often times hard to spot. In the evening ascend out of the crater and head towards Mto wa mbu. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 7- Lake Natron

  • After breakfast you will drive early in the morning towards the Lake Natron Region- home to the masaai, abundant wildlife and over a million flamingos depending on the season. Arrive at lake Natron camp and you will get a briefing of the activities you would like to do. You can relax in the natural pools and enjoy the views of the Oldoinyo Lengai mountain, take a walk to the waterfalls or visit the site of the hominid footprints. In the evening enjoy sundowners in the nearby hill and stargaze. Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron Luxury Camp.

Day 8- Lake Natron - Arusha

  • After breakfast you can head down to the lake with a guide to view flamingos in the nearby lake and spend the morning at leisure.You will then head back to Arusha. On the way you can stop by Cultural heritage art gallery and Shanga centre. Dinner and overnight at Gran Melia Arusha

Climbing Mt.Kilimanjaro is a life goal for many travelers. It is located in Tanzania within the Kilimanjaro National park region. Kilimanjaro International airport is about a 45 mins drive from the towns of Moshi and Arusha which are the closest towns to the mountain.

Nearly 40,000 climbers set out to conquer Mt.Kilimanjaro per year from around the world. This makes Mt. Kilimanjaro one of the most climbed high altitude mountains in the world.

Standing at 5,895 metres (19,341 ft ), Mt kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in the world that does not require any mountaineering skills, specialized equipment or previous experience. The mountain is however still physically and mentally challenging and should not be taken lightly.

At Bellr Safaris we provide you with professional guides, porters and chefs to accompany you all the way to Uhuru Peak - The highest point in Africa on Mt.Kilimanjaro. Porters carry all your equipment, food and each porter is allowed to carry up to 15kg.

Mt.Kilimanjaro can be trekked year round, but the best time to climb the mountain is during the dry season. From June to October and December to March are ideally the perfect conditions to trek.

The Itinerary — What You Can Expect

Day 9 - Mandara Hut - Kilimanjaro

Elevation (m) – 1200 to 1800 to 2700 Distance – About 9kms Hiking Time – About 3 to 4hrs Habitat – Rain Forest

  • After breakfast, you are picked up from your hotel by your kilimanjaro guide and driven to Marangu Gate passing through the town of Moshi which takes about 2hrs from your hotel. After finishing the formalities at the park gate, you start your journey through a fascinating tropical rain forest. You reach Mandara Hut which is the first hut.This rainforest is known for the rare colobus monkeys and blue monkeys. Rest, dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 10 - Horombo Hut - Kilimanjaro

Elevation (m) – 2700 to 3720 Distance – About 12kms Hiking Time – About 6 to 7hrs Habitat – Moorland

  • Today the first part of the walk is an ascent through the forest which opens out to Moorland Habitat where in clear weather you can view Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks.Enjoy a box picnic lunch and the continue with your trek.After arriving at Horrombo Hut during mid afternoon, you relax and enjoy the scenery around the camp.Walk to the nearby stream and enjoy the vegetation.At Horombo hut you will witness clouds passing through, lights in the town of moshi and a very starry night. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 11 - Kilimanjaro - Arusha

  • After breakfast, you descend to the Marangu Gate and either have picnic lunch at Mandara or at the Marangu Gate. You are then transferred to your hotel in Arusha.Dinner and Overnight at Gran Melia Arusha.
